Race report by Dewi Jones
After a fortnights break from racing due to A level exams this weekend saw us at. Wrexham for the Welsh Grand Prix. This two-day meeting with four rounds of qualifying Saturday and two qualifieres and 3 legged Finals on Sunday.

Saturday
A wet and windy day greeted us for the four scheduled rounds of qualifying on Saturday.

Round 1
With the wet weather on top of us a solid run was needed in round 1 to have a banker in for the rest of the weekend incase the weather got worse. We managed to achieve this with TQ with a time of 14 laps in 300 which was a lap quicker than second place. Again this proves the adaptability of the XRAY T2. The only change that was needed from wet setup to dry was the flex in the chassis which was done simply utilising the Multi Flex Technology on the Xray.

Round 2 & 3
With the weather showing no improvement and times in earlier heats not improving it was decided not to go out in theese to rounds and spend the time fully servicing the car ahead of the important dry qualifiers that were promised for later! We still kept hold of TQ during these runs.

Round 4
A drying track saw us out again to try and defend our TQ and up until the fourth minute we were ahead by a very large marging an improving on our TQ time. The car offered immense grip on the tyres selected (Nosram 24R) in the greasy conditions. However the car died as we came onto the main straight laster investigation found a battery wire had come out of place.

After Day 1 we were placed 4th overall which was a suprise considering our time was set in the wet conditions of the morning. TQ was held by a very rapid Dan Dixon also using a T2.

Sunday
A dry morning greeted racers as everyone recovered after the barn dance and the bbq of the night before. Two rounds of qualifiers and 3 legged finals awaited us.

Round 5

The dry track guranteed a new TQ in this round so the pressure was on to make sure it was me who had it . A clear 5 minute run with slight interfence on the back straight gave us TQ which put us Over 5 seconsds quicker than our nearest rival.

Round 6
No improvment this time as me and my mechanic decided on a harder compound of tyre that didnt show any improvement so at 4 minutes we brought the car off save for damaging it in pushing to hard.

Final 1 and 2
With a controlled drive in both finals we managed to pull away quite omfortably and stayed there . Both finals wer a mirror image of the each other. Each final was won with a gap of over half a lap to second place so a dominant performance.

Final 3
With the meeting secured it was chance for me to let my hair down after a hard weekends racing. (Did think of attaching a Citroen 2CV that the model shop was going to supply to evaluate the aerodynamic efficiency but we decided against it ;)).

Back to the racing. Pushing from the start this time the car took off and within the 5 minutes we had lapped every one up to 3rd place to emphasize the dominance of the XRAY T2, ORION 4300 BATTERIES ,NOSRAM TYRES AND SPEED CONTROLER.

Overall Final Results:

1st Dewi Jones Xray T2
2nd Ian Phillips
3rd Dan Dixon XRAY T2
